Gift of the Year Award for Fashion 2002 & 2004

This award is run by the Giftware Association and is a national award with 10 different categories. The Oscars of the giftware trade! (Possibly). For more details see www. The award event is held each year at The Savoy in London, where the winners of the different categories are announced.

In 2002 I won the fashion category with my range of basic flat earrings and pendants. Winning it again in 2004 was great and I believe recognised how much my designs had developed, this year I entered my pure plastic cuffs and deconstruct range.

The British Craft Trade Fair is a great trade show held at the Harrogate Showground each year in April; it focus’s on purely uk made designer products with approximately 400 exhibitors.

The award is for Newcomers to the show and is judged on the product and promotional material of each business. It is judged and awarded by The Craftsman magazine and given a follow up article in the Craftsman magazine. This was a great boost for my business and confidence and let me know I was on the right lines!

Arts council Grant

I applied for an arts council grant to support me in getting some specialist equipment and allowing me time to develop my designs using this. The grant allowed me to push my designs on and to begin the process of producing more art based work. The development time lead me to a way in which I could create work by collaborating with community projects and ultimately to getting my first residency. (see bags2art)
